Before custom archwires can be processed, you must have approved the setup for the patient. Place the order for a wire after selecting the cross-section and material, entering any needed overrides, and typing relevant notes.
You can review a wire order at any time, but after submitting it to the Digital Lab, it is in a read-only state, and you cannot change it. To remove or cancel a wire that has already been submitted, see Cancel a Wire Order.
SureSmile calculates the estimated wire insertion date for 3 weeks from the date you order the wire. Dentsply Sirona allots 3 weeks for wire production and delivery to accommodate international customers
From the patient overview, on the New menu, click Wire.
Result: The wire design workspace opens with the reference model (therapeutic model with blue teeth) displayed in the left pane and the current (i.e. the active plan displayed with white teeth) in the right pane..
Note: If this is not the first wire for the patient, the Create New Wire window opens. See Apply Over-Corrections to Wires for more details, then return to step 2 of this topic.
Click the Wire tab.
(Optional) Go to the Order tab. Click in the Order Name box and type a new name. Click out of the box to save the name. By default, the order is named Wire 1, but you can give it a new name. Wires that have been ordered and shipped will display Label and Serial Number information on the right.
From the Wire tab, to make selections for the upper archwire, select Upper.
Click the Wire Material/Cross Section drop-down list and choose an option. (You can also do this from the Order tab.)
OR
Choose - no wire - to order a lower wire only.
Note: By default, SureSmile selects the largest shape memory alloy wire that can go into your brackets.
To make selections for the lower archwire, select Lower.
Click the Wire Material/Cross Section drop-down list and choose an option.
OR
Choose - no wire - to order an upper wire only.
If you need to type any notes regarding your order, click the Checklist button and select Notes, and then enter your notes in the white box.
Click Submit.
Result: After an order is placed, the wire order is moved from Not Ordered status to Ordered status. When you open the wire order in the wire design workspace after you submit a wire order, the Order tab is selected by default.
NOTES:
If you try to order a wire that is potentially unbendable by the SureSmile robots, the following message appears on the Submit Wire dialog box: "Note: the Robots may not be able to bend the [upper/lower] wire. The Digital Lab will contact you if adjustments are required."
When a wire order has an in-production status, the Cancel button is unavailable. You no longer have the option to cancel that order.
Click the Show DE button on the Order tab to view the dental exam for approved wires.
If bone has been modeled, you can view a wire order with bone displayed.
Click the Display menu, then click the Bone icon from the image palette to show or hide bone modeling in a wire order.
You can view the Global Registration tab in a read only state in wire orders. This allows you to check for planned class or midline corrections without changes to the setup.
The Global Registration tab is viewable in a read-only state from the wire order.
When ordering wires, view the read-only Global Registration tab to determine if the midline was corrected dentally or with global movements.
