Order an Archwire with a Staged Prescription

The SureSmile software allows you to order a wire that has a percentage of the full expression in its design, such as a 50% staged wire. Here are several reasons that you might need staged wires:

• You anticipate difficulty in wire insertion due to the severity of the malocclusion.
• A tooth or teeth are periodontally involved.
• Root resorption has occurred.
• The patient has a low tolerance for discomfort.

You can also order a wire that has passive segments (that is, 0% staged). Here are several reasons that you might need a wire with passive segments:

• You need stabilization archwires  to maintain a group of teeth (for example,, to keep them periodontally involved).
• You need to maintain the alignment of the teeth segment/group.
• You need to increase anchorage.

Note: When ordering staged wires, do not forget to submit the order for the 100% full expression wire at the same time.

To order an archwire with a staged prescription

1. From the New drop-down menu, select Wire.
   Result: The wire prescription appears.
2. Click to open the Wire tab.
3. Select the upper or lower arch option.
4. Select the wire material and cross-section.
5. Go to the Limits [%] row at the bottom of the table, and change the value  from the default 100%  for the tooth or teeth that you want to stage.
6. Click anywhere on the blue screen to apply.
7. Repeat steps 3-5 on the opposite arch as needed.
