Step 2 - Submit the scan data

  1. At the scan appointment, take an intraoral scan for gingiva and teeth along with the same photos/x-rays required for any diagnostic model order. You can also take an in vivo CBCT scan at this time if you want to add roots and bone to a diagnostic model.

Note: The scan for the reference model must be intraoral, which means the patient is present and you are using an optical scan technology (Ex: CEREC® Omnicam). If you also take a CBCT scan of the patient and the patient has restorations, type a note in the order telling the Digital Lab to refer to the optical scan for supplemental data.

  1. Submit the model order.
  2. When the diagnostic model is returned from the Digital Lab, review and approve the model as usual, or continue to the next step if you chose to have the model Delivered as Finished.
