Step 6. Order aligners or printed models or export .STL files for your lab

If you are satisfied with the staged models after review, you are ready to approve the staged models, then either order Aligners, printed models or export the .STL files. Navigate to the Order tab to see your options.

Approve & Order Aligners Option

If you choose the Approve & Order Aligners option, a dialog box opens to choose your pricing option:

Choose either Complete or Select.

Whitening Kit* is included in both case packages. It will ship approximately 6 weeks prior to the end of treatment.

SureSmile® VPro™ is included in the Complete case package; it is optional for the Select case package.

Note: Whitening Kit and SureSmile® VPro™ may not be available in all regions

Click Trim Type & Height to change the trim type and/or trim height for your Aligner orders.

Please note that you can change the trim type from scalloped to straight, but you cannot change from straight to scalloped. If you want scalloped, you will need to send a modification to the Digital Lab so they can restage the staged models with the scalloped trim type.

Important: At this time, SureSmile® does not support a scalloped trim line for partially erupted teeth. If the case has a partially erupted tooth, please select the straight trim type.

Complete Pricing Option

Single fixed price for a particular patient.

All Aligners and attachment templates are boxed and shipped to your practice at once.

Includes an unlimited number of refinements within a 3-year period, beginning with the first Aligner order.

Select Pricing Option

Aligners can be purchased in any quantity up to the total number of planned stages. Aligners are priced on a per-Aligner basis. Aligners are boxed and shipped to your practice in the quantity ordered.

All active stages are selected by default; passive stages are deselected by default. Active stages are marked dark blue; passive stages in light blue. If you want to order passive Aligners, select the desired stages and click Next.

In subsequent orders for this patient, you will see a small printer icon placed on each stage already ordered.

Note: The system only prompts you to choose between Select and Complete the first time you order Aligners for a patient. This choice applies to future orders for Aligners for this patient.

Complete Case Expiration

To see when your Complete case expires, go to the Patient Overview page and click Edit.

On the right side of the screen under Cases selected you will see whether the case is Complete or Select, along with the expiration date if it is Complete.

Note: Once the Complete case expires, subsequent orders are charged per Aligner/refinement.

Approve & Order 3D Prints Option

If you choose the Approve & Order 3D Prints option, the Order 3D Prints dialog box opens. All active stages are selected by default; passive stages are deselected by default. Active stages are marked dark blue; passive stages in light blue. If you do not want to order all models at this time, deselect unwanted models and click Next.

Approve & Export STL Option

Click the Approve & Export STL button, then click Create new export…

The Approve & Export STL dialog box opens. All active stages are selected by default; passive stages are deselected by default. Active stages are marked dark blue; passive stages in light blue. If you do not want to export all models at this time, deselect unwanted models and click Next.

Note: only 10 models can be exported at one time. To export more than 10 models you will need to create a new export to export subsequent models.

Requesting Modifications to Staged Models

To request a modification to the staged model sequence, return to the plan and enter notes in the Edit Notes box on the Order tab. Once you have completed your notes to the Digital Lab, click the Submit button to send the case back to the Digital Lab. You will receive the setup and staged model sequence back for another review.

IPR Tracking Tab

The IPR Tracking tab is displayed once the staged models are in an ‘Approved’ state. This tab allows you to see and track the amount of planned and completed IPR. You can use this tab to enter newly performed IPR and track completed IPR while in the Staged Models.

Cancel a Full-Service Aligner Case

To cancel a case, click on the Cancel Full-Service Aligner case button at the bottom left of the screen on the Order tab.

A dialog box with a list of reasons for cancellation will appear. Choose the most applicable reason and click Confirm.

Please note cancellations cannot be undone. Once cancelled you will no longer have access to the treatment plan. However, you will be able to order a new case if needed.

Note: CBCT cases cannot be cancelled at this time.

Refinements

If Aligners are not tracking, you can request an Aligner refinement. You must submit a new scan of the current malocclusion. The Digital Lab will create a new therapeutic model as well as a new setup and staged model sequence.

After the initial order is placed, the Order Refinement button appears on the Staged Models Order tab. You can also order refinements by clicking the New button at the top right of the page.

To order an Aligner refinement:

1. Click the:

Order Refinement button on the Staged Models Order tab

or

Aligner Refinement option from the New drop-down menu

  1. Either action opens the therapeutic model order page. Fill out the reason for the new scan & the Special/Refinement Instructions section of the MACROS.

Note: Even though the other MACROS instructions are prepopulated from the current plan, you must enter the reason for submitting the new scan & the instructions in this Special/Refinement Instructions section before the system can process the order.

  1. Upload scan of the current malocclusion.
  2. Upload current records.
  3. Submit order.
  4. After the setup and staging is ready for review, repeat the review process for the refinement and order Aligners or printed models or export STL files.

Reordering lost or damaged aligners and models

You can order replacement Aligners, 3D prints, STL exports, or Retainers through separate orders. After you first order Aligners or models or export STL files, the Approve & Order buttons change to:

You can reorder any of these items for the patient without having to resubmit a scan or updated records.

Ordering Retainers

From the approved Staged Models, click the Order Retainers button from the Order tab.

Note: Staged Models must be in an ‘Approved’ state for the Order Retainers button to be displayed.

Please note retainers may not be available in all regions.

Retainers can be ordered for upper, lower or both arches, from Stage R, and in quantities of 1 to 5.
