When you receive your post-surgical setup back from the Digital Lab, use the setup review guide as you would for a non-surgical plan, making sure that you review all dental and skeletal movements and make any necessary adjustments.
After you have completed your review and approved the post-surgical setup, SureSmile recommends one of the following options:
Begin a pre-surgical setup – This is the recommended option if you are new to surgical treatment planning in SureSmile. This option allows you to order a pre-surgical plan so that the Digital Lab technician can make needed adjustments for root divergence and add space for the surgical cuts.
Note: This option is not necessary for one-piece surgeries since there should be no tooth interference where the surgical cuts are to be made.
Caution: We do not recommend ordering any wires until the setup has been approved. Ordering the wires before the pre-surgical plan has been approved will reference the incorrect models.
Begin a pre-surgical simulation – Because, in most cases, the amount of work that has to be done in the pre-surgical setup is minimal, this option is a good choice if you are experienced with surgical treatment planning in SureSmile and do not need Digital Lab assistance. If you are able to make needed adjustments for root divergence and to add space where the surgical cuts are to be placed, you can order pre-surgical wires directly from the pre-surgical simulation. (See "Step 5 – Order Pre-Surgery Wires" for instructions.)
Begin a post-surgical wire order – This option is NOT recommended for multi-piece surgeries. However, in single-piece surgical cases, when a pre-surgical plan is not needed, you can order wires.
For multi-piece surgery cases, do not order the post-surgical wire first. If you order the post-surgical wire first, the reference stage for the wire will be incorrect. Because the Digital Lab cannot correct this, they will place the case on Customer Hold with instructions to order new wires in the correct sequence and with the correct references. You will then need to release the Customer Hold back to the Digital Lab. This limitation does not apply to single-piece surgical cases. You can order just a post-surgical wire for these cases.
